Introduction to Visual Storage
The Visual Storage mod (ID: 935528) transforms the way you organize your base. Instead of clicking through dozens of generic boxes, you can craft specific depots that visually display the resources stored inside, while significantly increasing capacity and reducing server load.
Step-by-Step Usage
Step 1: Crafting Storage Depots
Unlock the Visual Storage engrams in your inventory. You can craft various types of storage structures, such as Wood Pallets, Ore Crates, or Ingot Racks, each designed for specific resource categories.
Step 2: Assigning Resources
Place the crafted storage depot in your base. Interact with it to set the specific resource type it will hold. Some depots automatically lock to a resource when you make your first deposit.
Step 3: Depositing Items
To store items, approach the depot and use the interaction wheel, or simply hit/shoot the depot if enabled. You'll see the visual representation of your resources physically stack up inside the structure as you add more.
Step 4: Pulling Resources
When crafting nearby, these depots integrate seamlessly with pulling systems. You can also manually extract precise amounts by interacting with the depot directly, avoiding the hassle of traditional inventory transfers.
Organization Best Practices
- Group similar materials (e.g., stone, flint, wood) together in a designated crafting area.
- Use visual storage for heavy bulk resources to save on traditional vault/storage box space.
- Visual storage helps optimize base rendering by reducing the total number of individual storage structures you need.
